Twitter Timeline: The Lakers Get Their Rings
Unsurprisingly, last night was an extremely taxing one for the Twitter servers, with ex-players, pundits, and current ballers dropping e-gems throughout game five. Here are the highlights:
The Sport Count team kicked things off with a respectful, astute observation:

Kelly Dwyer from Ball Don’t Lie shares the feelgood fan story of the Finals — a man who learned to respect those different from him:

John Hollinger from ESPN wasn’t loving the time-out entertainment:

The Magic looked okay in the first quarter. But already the boys from Hardwood Paroxysm sensed a loss was on the cards:

Henry Abbott of True Hoop feels sorry for Sasha Vujacic. Hope the little fella isn’t too upset about his finals misfires:

It’s difficult to talk about a franchise tradition. Owners change. Coaches change. Players change. Ultimately, a franchise is held together by some colours, and geography — and even they change sometimes. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sees no such problem in generalising about the nature of a team:

He’s right:

Ric Bucher of ESPN shows us when swearing is justified:

Could this be sarcasm from Lang Whitaker of Slam?

Ouch. More sarcasm:

Jeannie Buss, daughter of Lakers owner Jerry Buss, has given the world a great (NSFW) mid-90s Playboy set. Last night, she gave us something far more important: without us realising it, she warned us that we might soon be copping a ‘victory’ speech from her intolerable rich kid geek of a brother Joey:

Nazr Mohammed of the Bobcats faced the toughest choice a man can make: the season premiere of a smash HBO series, or game five of the NBA Finals. He made the responsible choice:

No doubt:

You get the impression from Bucher that Stan Van Gundy was a little frustrated:

We need this answered:

J.A. Adande from ESPN gives us an acute example of ‘when you can tell a team is losing the game’:

We know Kobe can rap. I hope he incorporates this line into his next EP:

You’re right, Bill Simmons. Joey Buss definitely is a dick. Was Jeannie not available for that speech?

Shawn Marion is right. Enough said:

Wait! Let’s check on Sasha!

He seems fine.
